//Elton John – „Honky Château“ – May 1972
One week with… Elton John! 7 days, 7 albums, 7 songs.
Day 6:
The Album: Honky Château May 1972.
The Song: Rocket Man.
Ranked number 359 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, Honky Château owes its title to the Château d’Hérouville in France where Elton John recorded it. The song “Rocket Man”, describing the feelings of a Mars-bound astronaut who had to leave his family to do his job, was inspired by a short Sci-Fi story called “The Rocket Man” written by Ray Bradbury. A lot of people consider this song as a metaphor: a rock star, like an astronaut, is isolated from his friends, from his family and from the real world ?
“I miss the earth so much I miss my wife

Château d’Hérouville
It’s lonely out in space
And I think it’s gonna be a long long time
‚Till touch down brings me round again to find
I’m not the man they think I am at home
Oh no no no I’m a rocket man
Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone“
