//Grace Jones – „Nightclubbing“ – 1981
Singer, songwriter, model, record producer, actress, the Jamaican Grace Jones has lived already more than one life. “Nightclubbing” is her fifth album and was released in 1981. After a really reggae-oriented album, she tries here a fusion of genres mixing the typical style of her natal Island with some disco, jazz, electro, funk, dub, art pop and urban tones. And the results of this patchwork is fantastic. It’s maybe the first time that I discover a singer without being able to think “it’s good, but sounds like…” Even if it stays really special, the musical style of the album impresses just as much as the posture of Grace Jones on the cover. One song to distinguish: the cover of Astor Piazzolla’s song “Libertango”, “I’ve seen that face before”. Awesome.
