// Marilyn Monroe – „The very Best-Of“

We mentioned Marilyn Monroe in an older post with the song “Candle in the wind” from Elton John. It’s time today to pay tribute to her own singing qualities. And it’s a lot more than “Happy Birthday, Mr President!” Her singing, like her acting, was much better than she was given credit for during her lifetime.

She had a real friendship with Ella Fitzgerald and lernt a lot on her side. “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” is maybe best known from her songs, but “My heart belongs to Daddy”, “Bye bye baby”, “When I fall in love” or “You’d be surprised” are so many pretty jewels to discover!

Listening one of her song, don’t forget to remember what she said in an article for the Collier’s Magazine in 1954 :

“I won’t be satisfied until people want to hear me sing without looking at me. Of course, that doesn’t mean I want them to stop looking.”
