//Nena „Nena“ – 1983

Back in the 1980s with the first album of the singer Nena (1983). Of course, one song stands out from the crowd: “99 Luftballons”(British Version: “99 Red Ballons ?)

The song tells a story: during the Cold War, 99 Ballons are flying in the sky. Suddenly, they show up on the radar as unidentified objects and both sides scramble planes and go to full alert to counteract a nuclear attack. The result: a 99-year war causing the earth’s devastation.

However, at the end of the song, Nena finds one remaining Ballon and let it fly as a symbol of the hope of the people fighting at this time for peace and a global disarmament.
